A diathermy pad, also known as a grounding pad or return electrode, is a medical device used in electrosurgery and certain physical therapy treatments. Diathermy involves the application of high-frequency electrical currents to generate heat within body tissues for therapeutic purposes, such as cutting, coagulating, or cauterizing tissue during surgical procedures, or for deep heating in physical therapy.
